Plastic mould steel for medium-sized and large moulds. As this material is delivered pre-annealed to 950 - 1,150 N/mm², it is also suitable for parts in general mechanical engineering. Compared to 1.2311, 1.2312 is easier to machine due to its sulphur content, but cannot be polished. 1.2311 however can be polished and photo-etched. Both materials can be gas-nitrided and bath-nitrided and are suitable for case-hardening.
