Cold work tool steel for the manufacture of dimensionally stable high-performance punching dies of good toughness and highest wear resistance.
This material is available as round and flat raw material, as precision ground flat steel, as VarioPlan® with fine-machined thickness, as VarioRond®, as semi-finished products according to your specifications and as hardened or unhardened mould bases.
D2 is a ledeburite 12% chrome steel that requires high-quality heat treatment. Hardening temperature is above 1,000°C. When hardened, this material is difficult to machine due to its high wear resistance.
