Cold work tool steel for the manufacture of tools, measuring instruments, devices, templates, guide bars and components of all kind..
When thermal-treating the material, it should be noted that 1.2842 is a full-hardened material whose volume may change by approx. 1 ‰, although it exhibits little distortion. As a consequence, workpieces with cross-sections over 40 mm can have lower hardening grades than 58-62 HRc. For larger component cross-sections of guide bars we recommend 1.2363 or the gluing of hardened guide bars, for wear parts we also recommend 1.2379.
