Steel processing has become a tradition in our company. As early as the beginning of the 18th century our ancestors forged steel, manufactured nails, chisels and plane iron which is reflected in the corporate name - with Recknagel meaning "nail". The early beginnings of the company in Thuringia and in the Bergisches Land continued in the late sixties of the 20th century with the establishment of today's Recknagel Präzisionsstahl GmbH.

As early as 1968, Kurt Recknagel and Harry Möller established the company Möller & Recknagel in Solingen, which was one of the first manufacturers of precision ground flat steel in Germany. Soon afterwards, the production programme was supplemented by hardened guideways. Due to constant growth, the company moved to the new site in Hückeswagen in 1974. With the set-up of new buildings and extensions along with large-scale investments, Recknagel Präzisionsstahl GmbH became one of the leading manufacturers of precision guide systems in Germany.
Today, two independent companies at two different locations machine steel and convert it into high-precision guideways, precision ground flat steel and erosion blocks, into semi-finished tool steel, aircraft parts and a variety of machine parts. Our efforts to take as much as possible off the hands of our customers to enable them to concentrate on their core competence led to very successful product innovations such as VarioPlan, VarioRond and EcoPlan. |

However we have always kept to our traditions. Thuringia, which once provided people with work and modest prosperity through the mining of ore, smelting and small iron companies and later through manufacturing of arms and tools, saw the set-up of Gebrüder Recknagel Präzisionsstahl GmbH, Christes in 1991.
The company's goal has always been to contribute to the development and restructuring of East Germany's industry, to provide people with work and to tackle the exciting task of shaping a new market with the diligence and the expertise of the people in Thuringia. We can proudly report that the 1,000m2 large production hall in Christes which was built in 1994 proved to be insufficient and that the production space was doubled in 2000 on the same site. This enabled us to install large-sized and modern CNC milling and sawing machines and to extend our manufacturing capacities significantly. A new and modern office building supplements this investment.
